Bow 

Basics

Starting Line


Set the bow on the string at the starting point.

Travel down the "bow road" when pulling the bow across the strings.

DOWN : opening the armUP: closing the arm
Unless marked otherwise, songs start on going DOWN.

Tone Recipe


Finding a balance between bow weight and speed will produce optimum tone.

The wrist is ALWAYS straight.

THUMB


Thumb stays straight and relaxed, dropping the hand and creating a 'cave'. 

FINGERS


Fingers are curved like candy canes and pressed down on top of the appropriate tape on the desired string.

Gently squeeze between thumb and the side of your first finger.
